We are making our way through the Southwest, slowly, because there's so much to see and all is so far apart. But I honestly can't say much about the food we have discovered on this route. Albuquerque was more promising in terms of regional flavor- especially since we had a local to show us around. With talk of green chile everything, we happily joined her for a breakfast burrito at Frontier- a conspicuous barn-looking restaurant off the main drag (Old Route 66). The restaurant itself was an attraction, with John Wayne paraphernalia everywhere and a wide range of diners enjoying massive plates of food through the restaurant's several seating areas. I waffled between the huevos rancheros and the breakfast burrito, but we were taking it to go, so I went with the holdable-food.

Nice and spicy, full of the green chiles I'd been promised. I forgot to grab a 6-pack of sweet rolls, but with our road-trip diet thus far, I'm sure it was for the best. It would be too easy to come here every Sunday morning for a hangover fix, as I learned the college set is prone to do.
