Cafe Mondegar

Many restaurants in downtown Mumbai are supposedly meeting points for Bollywood recruiters to gather extras for their upcoming shoots. Made famous by Shantaram, Leopold Cafe was one of these hotspots that we tried, more or less, to avoid. Instead, we were sucked into a Leopold impostor down the street. Mondegar, decorated on the inside with the same exaggerated line drawings as the menu cover, was intended to appeal to the tourists about to enter the gauntlet of Colaba's street vendors.

We found Mondegar to be a great place for garlic naan, Kingfisher pints and confusedly watching cricket on the giant projector screen. Some of the their proposed combinations were valiant indeed; I believe we experimented with a failed seafood dish, but the ubiquitous "creamy sauce" kept us away from many of the entrees.
