Why would anyone, while traveling, visit the same restaurant twice? It's worse, I think, than two dining companions choosing the same entree- with so many options, why deign to repeat? Well, when in Amsterdam in January, there is only so much respite from the snowy, tourist-laden streets. And in the morning, that respite is limited to pannekoeken.

The day after our visit to this cozy, canalside pancake house, complete with fireplace and cat-friend, we tried another spot closer to the city center. The thinner pancakes and less rich fillings in the cafeteria-style second spot sent us clamoring back to 't Singletje our third day in town. Our overwhelming preference was for the savory ham and cheese; my vague threats of eggnog and pineapple were met with dissent by my eating partner.
