I just got back from a Tour de California where I... didn't eat out much. But I was reminded of my New Year's escapade wherein we stopped in for some fried chicken at one of our favorite new-old-looking eateries, just outside of town.

Who? What? Where? HOW??

I was interested to see that Fremont Diner has
changed their menu. I mean, it was charming before- handmade, typewritten- and now, while it has a blocky
letterpress feel, it is just overloaded with information. As one of my eating companions claimed: "It's cute, but I just can't read it." It's sort of in your face with titles and credits and subheadings and prices and provenances so that you just don't know what's going on. I'm already overwhelmed by the exciting offerings; now I'm just going to sit in the corner, confused and concerned that I might've missed something I could have ordered. Actually, looking at it now is the first time that I actually see what's available- and I'm concentrating really hard to soak it all in. No, seriously, it's a good list- just a reminder that overdesign can overstimulate- and that leads to hanger, which just is no good at all.
