Stage Stop

There's not much I like about Nevada.  Lake Tahoe, occasional and brief trips to Vegas, giggling when I pass brothels. Other than that, I'd rather circumnavigate the state. And Tonopah was no exception.  Our first real stop on this cross-country road trip, we got in late and left early. We bypassed the tempting Clown Motel and the inoffensive Jim Benton hotel (as comfortable as grandma's!) and chose the flashy Ramada Casino Hotel for its late-night restaurant availability. When we walked into the wild west themed diner, we knew we'd be staying for the night.  There was a giant stuffed bear in the lobby and the bar and restaurant were a pastiche of western kitch.

It was not surprising that the menu lacked any Healthy option; after a day on my bum, I was hoping for something light but ended up with a chicken-substitute on a bed of iceberg with a plasticky vinaigrette.  Not that I was really complaining- I was more there for the scenery.  That's what life is on the road, anyway: taking what you find and shutting up about it, because that's why you're there.

Probably should have stuck with breakfast- who can mess with breakfast?

Lassoes, horseshoes, saddles and Cowboy font, what more can you hope for?

I wonder if there's another menu out there that's exactly this same layout.  It looks like it was a lot of work to design.  And with an abundance of options, ranging from Teriyaki Steak (so Nevada) to Linguica & Eggs.  Which, of course, I had to ask about.  Linguiça is a "type of sausage," "like a hotdog" and in the eggs, "it looks like cut-up hotdog."  Later, I found that Linguiça is from Portugal, and the original looks delicious.

I was wary of the seafood options, since we were landlocked.   Anyway, here's what the restaurant looked like, since that was way more interesting than the actual food.
