Generally my code is to display only hard copies of menus that I've accumulated, but since this particular menu was attached to a wooden plank, taking it from the restaurant might've proven a tad conspicuous. In breaking my rules, however, I'd like to take this opportunity to herald the set tasting menu. It's what the kitchen has determined to be the best dishes of the house, in the best order to be tasted, and in proper proportion to the meal in its entirety. Though it takes the guesswork out of the great menu item debate, one needn't question her choice later. Because if you didn't like their best, you might not be satisfied at all. Good thing we liked most of it. Rasoi is a Michelin-starred exclusive Indian restaurant in a seemingly residential space in Pimlico, London.

This was not a usual night out for me- we warmed up on champagne at a posh bar down the street and made our way down to King's Road, where we rang the bell (!) for the restaurant and were escorted into a beautiful chamber, lit by lanterns and devoid of humans- save for the many elegant waiters at their posts. Dinner was on the number munchers, so we went all out with the gourmand menu.
It was probably one course too many, with a few minutes too long between courses, but I'm a huge fan of trying little bits of whatever's best. Sometimes I think the ideal restaurant would give you a little taste of everything and you could choose which one you liked most for your meal. But I guess by then you'd be full. Which is why sometimes menus with pictures do the trick, or spying on people's food as they come through the dining room before you order. Anything to narrow the options.
