Cooperstown Diner

They aren't kidding 'bout the 1/2 thing.
Nothing too special, just a tiny diner in Cooperstown that was open when the rest of the town was hibernating for the winter.  There wasn't really any discussion on whether or not we'd go in; the "specials" sandwich board outside of this peculiar trailer-esque building compelled us inside.

The menu is your standard diner menu: photo of the diner on the front (or is it an imagined version of the diner at its best?), breakfast (served all day), sandwiches, burgers, platters, daily specials & sides.  Highlights of the interior included diner memorabilia (all of which I was tempted to buy- especially a coveted tee with pixely photo of a burger that said "Worth the Wait"- a truism I was to later discover), donuts under glass and Capri Suns for sale on a shelf.
Trust me: Adults can't order off the Kids' Menu

We got the burger & a grilled cheese sandwich, and 35 minutes later, they appeared- greasy and hot next to our bottomless coffees and reluctantly refilled plastic cups of water.  I had ordered the grilled cheese with ham, which turned out to be bacon.  Curious, because bacon had been the other option with "The Mohican."  I had wished it was Saturday night for their $5.95 All You Can Eat Spaghetti, but it turned out I found another way to carbo-load with my two side options: mashed potatoes and (extremely fried) eggplant fries.  The burger was juicy and humungous, like a burger should be- way too big to get a bite with everything.  We watched as a kid at a nearby table demolished his burger with enthusiasm as he tried to fit the whole stack in his mouth.

Mostly Fried Stuff

The tablecloths were checked, the cheese was American, and the toupee'd regular in the corner muttered to himself all through his meal of mashed potatoes.  Just what you'd hope for at a diner in the town that's the home of America's favorite game.
