Van Horn Sandwich Shop

I wish that I could say that if I were a menu I'd look like this:

But I am absolutely not that simple, that concrete, that decisive. It's a good menu, Van Horn's, and a great little sando shop new kid on the block. Relying heavily on waitress ability to describe sandwich fixins and customer ability to decide based on prior knowledge of sandwiching, Van Horns is the opposite of what I sometimes think is my favorite type of menu- yet it is seductive in its simplicity. What are you in the mood for? A ginormous hunk of fried chicken on bread? Bam. Crunchy bacon and some salad on a bun? Done. Fried balls of goodness (hushpuppies) or adult mac-n-cheese (it's big shells with breadcrumbs on top)? Pow. And in case you're feeling the urge to feign healthy-ness (as I am wont to do), there's a chicken salad- with a giant hunk of the same fried chicken that's on that delicious sandwich!! Gym, no thanks- all I ate today was a salad!

The menu feels homemade like the food, and then there at the end, they graciously invite you back for a cocktail! And then they have Lagunitas on tap and a backyard, so yay, thanks for being my new spot, Van Horn. Except I walked into the door when I was looking at your bulletin board, so you owe me an apology.
